The PACS system serves as an environmentally friendly tool that replaces standard imaging films with digital images. This digital storing system allows Brookings Health System physicians and medical staff to easily access your imaging tests via computer. This means any scan, X-ray, or other imaging study conducted at Brookings Health System will be categorized and stored in a Web-accessible system.
Considering that many patients see more than one physician or specialist on a regular basis, PACS prevents the need for transferring film images from one physician office to another. Instead, images are available at the click of a mouse on our secure network. This means your physician has access to images sooner, resulting in faster, more efficient diagnoses.
Keeping Your Information Safe
While the ease of accessing your imaging scans is a great benefit to you, Brookings Health System also has taken into consideration the importance of protecting your privacy and has security features in place to keep your medical information confidential.
PACS allows Brookings Health System to enter the electronic patient information world where images and reports are available anywhere, anytime," says Tim Watson, BSRST(R)(CT), director of Imaging Services at Brookings Health System. "In order to keep information secure, only users that have been assigned a unique username and password are able to enter the PACS system."
