Brookings Health System announced that it has acquired Arlington Medical Center effective, May 3, 2010.
The Arlington Medical Center has been serving the community of Arlington since 1989. Brookings Health System acquired the medical center from Amiel Redfish, PA who is retiring after 21 years of service to the community.
Starting in May, Tonya Froehlich, a family nurse practitioner, will be serving the health care needs of the area. Froehlich said she is very interested in community education and hopes to integrate that into her practice.
Ms. Froehlich received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from South Dakota State University.
Most recently she was a family nurse practitioner at the Indian Health Services (IHS) in Sisseton, SD. Prior to her tenure at IHS, she was with the Kannan Clinic in Sioux Falls.
Brookings Health System's Arlington Medical Center will employ Ms. Froehlich and a medical assistant. Dr. Jim Walery will be the physician overseeing the clinic. The medical center will continue to serve its patients in the same location, at 104 West Birch Avenue in Arlington.
The medical center will offer primary care, women's health and pediatric service as well as laboratory services, a service that was not previously available.
The medical center will be open 8:00 am-5:00 pm Mondays and Fridays and from 11:00 am-7:00 pm on Wednesdays. Additional hours or days of service will be considered as the medical center's practice grows.
"We are excited about this acquisition as it gives Brookings Health System an opportunity to expand our services to the Arlington region," said Roger Oberg, President and Chief Executive Officer at Brookings Health System.
