Brookings, SD (19 July 2010) — In an effort to continue our commitment of providing customer-driven excellence, Brookings Health System is pleased to announce a new endeavor with Sioux Falls based Orthopaedic Consultants. Beginning Monday, August 9 at 9 a.m., orthopedic surgeons will conduct an orthopedic outreach clinic at Brookings Health System.

Dr. Jonathan Blake and Dr. David Watts, both board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, will rotate staffing the outreach clinic.

The two Orthopaedic Consultants surgeons will utilize Brookings Health System‘s state of the art diagnostic imaging services which include onsite MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Dexascan and X-ray with an onsite radiologist.

Brookings Health System has a fully trained therapy department available to provide therapy services in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The therapy team consists of physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistants, as well as speech and respiratory therapists. Also, Brookings Health System’s experienced operating room professionals and certified nurse anesthetists work with the most advanced surgical equipment.

Those interested in making an appointment can seek treatment for a wide array of acute or chronic orthopedic problems. For example, those requiring follow up after arthroscopic surgery as well as anyone who may have experienced sports injuries or joint replacement should consider this convenient opportunity.

Orthopedic Consultants will be at Brookings Health System usually twice monthly beginning Monday, August 9.

Physician biographies

Dr. Jonathan Blake received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Central Missouri. He earned his Doctorate at the University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas. His Residency in Orthopedic Surgery was completed at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Blake is Board Certified with the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.  He practiced general orthopedics in Kansas City for the past ten years and while in private practice, Dr. Blake served as Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Dr. David Watts completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He went on to complete his Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Watts practices general orthopaedics and has a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. He trained extensively with Dr. Frank Alvine with special emphasis in total ankle replacement surgery.
